Ayurveda education is set to become more practical and technology-driven with the introduction of AyurSim, a digital learning platform designed to provide students with virtual patient cases and interactive clinical learning.

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has encouraged Ayurveda colleges across the country to use the platform as part of academic training. AyurSim functions as a virtual teaching environment where students can study patient cases on computers before interacting with real patients.

Through the platform, students can learn how to assess symptoms, understand clinical conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans in a simulated environment. The initiative is aimed at making Ayurveda education more engaging while giving learners greater exposure to clinical decision-making.

According to Ayurveda Expert, the use of AyurSim has made learning more interesting and easier to understand. The platform was developed collaboratively by Amrita CREATE, Amrita Ayurveda Vidyalayam and the Ayurveda Teaching and Research Institute in Jamnagar.

The digital platform currently features 54 virtual patient cases from nine departments, along with around 416 interactive study materials. Seven training sessions have already been conducted, involving 1,078 teachers and students.

The initiative is receiving positive feedback from learners and educators, with more than 96 per cent of participants reportedly finding the platform useful for their studies.

The adoption of virtual clinical training could help Ayurveda students strengthen their diagnostic and analytical skills while complementing conventional classroom and clinical education.
