The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) successfully conducted the NEET-PG 2026 examination on Sunday, deploying an extensive network of security, technology and manpower resources to ensure a fair and seamless process for candidates nationwide.
The Numbers
- 2,73,096 candidates were scheduled to appear
- 1,111 examination centres across 339 cities
- All 36 States and Union Territories covered
- 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the exam
- 2,63,535 candidates completed the exam successfully
Multi-Layered Security and Monitoring-NBEMS backed the exam with a large oversight network:
- 2,527 faculty members served as Independent Appraisers, monitoring the conduct of the exam on the ground
- 700+ senior faculty, including Deans, Directors, Medical Superintendents and senior professors, were deployed as Flying Squad members
- 16 Regional Command Centres were activated across the country to coordinate real-time response
- Live CCTV surveillance at all centres, monitored continuously from NBEMS’s central Command Centre in Dwarka, New Delhi
- A dedicated 190-member team from NBEMS and TCS handled round-the-clock surveillance
At the Dwarka Command Centre, representatives from NBEMS, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, BEL, ECIL and TCS jointly oversaw the exam through the day.
To guard against impersonation, Aadhaar-based authentication of candidates was carried out at test centres, with support from government agencies throughout.

In the NEET PG examination, since it is conducted as a computer-based test, paper leaks are not possible. The paper is published only half an hour before the examination… To ensure the safety of the examination, we have introduced Aadhaar-based authentication for identification. We have enhanced our overall security mechanisms, increased the number of security officials, and strengthened overall vigilance during the examination.Dr Sheth said the Commission focused on two key areas this year:
Candidate awareness — ensuring students had accurate information about how the exam would be conducted And Enhanced security — tightening vigilance during the exam, careful selection of centres, stronger logistics, and backup support at test sites
“We ensured that the examination could be managed successfully even in difficult environments, without any hindrance,” he added.
The Board said the makeup exam is intended to give all affected candidates a fair and equal opportunity to compete in NEET-PG 2026.
The Bigger Picture
Beyond the isolated disruption in Jaipur, NBEMS framed the day as a large-scale coordination success — crediting examination authorities, medical institutions, faculty, security agencies and technology partners for pulling off the exercise across 1,111 centres in 339 cities.
NBEMS closed its statement by thanking candidates for their cooperation, patience and trust, and acknowledging the personnel and institutions behind the exam’s conduct.
