The Delhi Government is preparing to launch a comprehensive digital platform aimed at transforming the city’s medical tourism ecosystem and making healthcare services more accessible for patients from across India and abroad.
The proposed platform, named Delhi Medical and Wellness Tourism (DMWT), is designed to serve as a one-stop solution for patients seeking treatment in the national capital. It will bring together hospitals, wellness centres and support service providers on a single digital interface, enabling patients to access information, compare treatment options and plan their medical journey with greater ease.
According to officials, the portal will offer a wide range of services, including hospital and specialist selection, standardised treatment packages, multilingual assistance, real-time patient journey tracking and an integrated grievance redressal mechanism. The initiative is expected to improve transparency while reducing the role of unauthorised intermediaries.
The project will be implemented by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC). The corporation has invited bids from agencies to design, develop, operate and maintain the platform under a long-term agreement. The selected agency will also be responsible for funding the project’s development and operational costs.
As part of the initial rollout, the government aims to onboard at least five internationally accredited hospitals, 25 NABH-accredited hospitals, 15 wellness centres and 30 support service providers within six months of awarding the contract. The portal is expected to become fully operational within around eight months.
Officials estimate that Delhi attracts more than three million domestic and international patients every year, supported by its network of super-speciality hospitals, advanced diagnostic facilities and AYUSH institutions. Despite this strong healthcare infrastructure, the medical tourism sector remains fragmented, with hospitals operating independently and without a unified city-level coordination system.
The proposed digital platform seeks to bridge these gaps by creating a government-regulated ecosystem that offers standardised services, reliable information and a seamless experience for patients. The initiative is also expected to strengthen Delhi’s position as a global healthcare destination and enhance its competitiveness with leading international medical tourism hubs.
Once operational, the portal will function as a single-window system, simplifying the treatment journey for both domestic and overseas patients while improving coordination among healthcare providers and allied service agencies.
