The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a strong warning against the submission of fake or AI-generated Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets by candidates challenging their NEET-UG 2026 results. The agency stated that legal action may be initiated against individuals found using fabricated documents while filing complaints over score discrepancies.
The warning comes after several candidates raised concerns on social media, alleging mismatches between their expected and declared scores following the NEET-UG re-examination. According to the NTA, many of the OMR sheets circulated online and submitted for verification have been found to be manipulated or generated using artificial intelligence.
Officials said discrepancies such as incorrect serial numbers, spelling errors in instructions, and invalid field labels indicate that several viral OMR sheets are not authentic. The agency has advised students and parents to submit only original OMR sheets for scrutiny and assured that every complaint is being examined carefully.
The NTA also referred to previous legal cases where courts dismissed petitions after finding that forged documents had been submitted as evidence. Officials reiterated that the agency is committed to maintaining transparency and will act against attempts to spread misinformation.
Several candidates, including aspirants from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, have publicly claimed that their marks were significantly lower than expected and have sought clarification from the examination authority. Some families have indicated that they may pursue legal remedies if their concerns remain unresolved.
Dharmendra Pradhan Congratulates NEET Topper Amid Political Controversy
Amid continuing political protests over the NEET paper leak issue, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met Panshul Bansal, who secured All India Rank 2 in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination.
Sharing a photograph from the meeting on social media, Pradhan congratulated the Haryana student for his outstanding performance and said his success reflects the determination and aspirations of India’s youth.
Panshul Bansal, a resident of Faridabad, scored 715 out of 720 marks in the re-conducted examination. Although he shared the highest score with another candidate, he was placed second based on the prescribed tie-breaking criteria.
The meeting took place as opposition parties and activists continued to question the handling of the NEET paper leak controversy and demanded accountability from the Union Education Ministry.
While the political debate over the examination continues, the NTA has maintained that it is thoroughly reviewing all genuine grievances and urged candidates to avoid relying on fake or AI-generated documents.
