The International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Lok Nayak Hospital in association with the Haemophilia Day Care Centre (HDCC), highlighting the transformative role of yoga in improving the lives of persons living with haemophilia. The event witnessed the participation of hospital officials, doctors, staff members and haemophilia patients across different age groups.
The programme was graced by Medical Director Dr. B.L. Chaudhary and HDCC In-charge Dr. Sunita Aggarwal. A key highlight of the event was the active participation of haemophilia patients in specially designed yoga sessions. Despite challenges such as recurrent joint bleeds, chronic pain and mobility limitations, participants demonstrated remarkable determination and enthusiasm.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chaudhary emphasized that yoga plays a significant role in enhancing physical fitness, functional ability, confidence, emotional well-being and overall quality of life. He noted that yoga offers therapeutic benefits not only for haemophilia patients but also for people in their daily lives.

Dr. Sunita Aggarwal highlighted that yoga promotes harmony between the body, mind and spirit. She stated that regular practice encourages discipline, balance, mindfulness and self-awareness while strengthening joint health, mental resilience and social well-being. She also reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to holistic care through educational, recreational and awareness programmes for patients and their families.

The celebration concluded with a tree plantation drive, symbolizing environmental responsibility and the collective aspiration for a healthier future. The event underscored how awareness, timely treatment and safe yoga practices can empower people with haemophilia to lead healthier, more confident and fulfilling lives.
