The Delhi State Health Mission and the Delhi State TB Elimination Programme have launched a renewed appeal encouraging citizens, organisations, corporates and NGOs to join the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative and help tuberculosis (TB) patients by providing nutritional and social support.
The awareness campaign, displayed across government health facilities, highlights that any individual or organisation can adopt a TB patient under the community-driven programme. The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s efforts towards achieving a TB-Free India by ensuring that patients receive adequate nutrition and emotional support during their treatment.

According to the campaign, a contribution of Rs. 800 per month can provide a nutritional food basket to a TB patient. Donors can sponsor a patient for six months at a total cost of Rs. 4,800. Apart from financial assistance, Ni-kshay Mitras are also encouraged to offer moral and social support to patients, helping improve treatment adherence and recovery.
The programme is open to individuals, community groups, corporate organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Interested participants can register through the Nikshay portal and become a Ni-kshay Mitra.
To facilitate donations, the campaign also provides a QR code for online payments to the Indian Red Cross Society, Delhi Branch. After making the contribution, donors are requested to share their name and mobile number with the Red Cross Society for further processing.
The campaign carries the message, “Let’s work together to make India TB-free,” reinforcing the government’s commitment to eliminating tuberculosis through active community participation and public support.
