Bajaj General Insurance Rolls Out Family Health Cover That Also Insures Dogs and Cats

New Delhi : HL August 27, 2026

Bajaj General Insurance Limited, formerly known as Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, has launched ‘My Family Complete’, a health insurance policy that brings human family members and pet dogs and cats under a single insurance framework.

The insurer describes the product as India’s first family health cover to treat pets as insured members of the family. The new offering is aimed at households looking for an integrated approach to healthcare protection for both people and their companion animals.

Health Insurance Cover for Humans and Pets

Under My Family Complete, adults aged 18 years and above, dependent children from three months to 30 years, and pet dogs and cats from three months of age can be included. The policy does not specify an upper age limit for eligible pets.

The plan provides sum-insured options ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹5 crore, with policy tenures of up to five years. This allows families to select coverage based on their healthcare requirements and financial preferences.

Hospitalisation and Medical Benefits

The policy includes a range of healthcare benefits for humans and pets. These include inpatient hospitalisation, room rent, road ambulance and pet ambulance services, pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses, modern treatment methods and domiciliary hospitalisation.

For human beneficiaries, the plan also provides benefits such as AYUSH hospitalisation, while organ donor-related expenses and other specified benefits are available under the policy framework.

Special Benefits for Pet Parents

A key feature of My Family Complete is the inclusion of benefits specifically designed around pet ownership.

If an insured pet is lost or stolen, the policy provides a benefit towards advertising and reward expenses incurred to help locate the animal. Another feature provides for emergency pet accommodation if the pet parent is hospitalised and temporarily unable to care for the pet.

The policy can also offer third-party liability protection for injury, death or property damage caused by an insured pet, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

Optional Add-On Covers

The insurer has also introduced several optional covers that can be added to the policy. These include air ambulance cover, major illness and accident multipliers, double sum insured benefits, global cover, consumables cover and long-term care for chronic pet conditions.

Other optional features include pet adoption support and a ‘Bundle of Joy’ payout linked to the birth of a child or a pet litter.

Pets Becoming Part of the Family Health Conversation

Bajaj General Insurance Managing Director and CEO Dr Tapan Singhel said the product reflects the changing role of pets in Indian households. According to the company, as pets increasingly become integral members of families, their healthcare needs are also becoming part of household healthcare planning.

The launch comes as pet healthcare costs and awareness around pet insurance continue to grow. Bajaj General Insurance already offers dedicated pet insurance covering areas such as veterinary treatment, surgery, hospitalisation, mortality, terminal diseases, long-term care and third-party liability.

What Makes My Family Complete Different?

The key distinction of My Family Complete is its shared-family approach. Instead of treating pet insurance as entirely separate from family healthcare, the product places eligible dogs and cats within the same overall health protection framework as human family members.

With coverage options of up to ₹5 crore and policy tenures extending to five years, the product is positioned as an integrated insurance solution for modern families that consider pets an important part of the household.

Note: Coverage, exclusions, waiting periods, sub-limits, eligibility and add-on benefits are subject to the policy’s detailed terms and conditions.
