A series of monkey bite incidents at the Bulaki Daas Ayushman Arogya Mandir ( Former Municipal TB Hospital) located in Shahdara’s Chhota Bazar area has sparked concern among patients, attendants, and local residents. The repeated presence of monkeys inside the hospital premises has raised questions about safety arrangements and wildlife management.

According to local reports, around ten monkey bite cases have been reported over the past ten days, while three more people were allegedly bitten on Wednesday. The incidents have created fear among visitors, particularly elderly patients, children, and those undergoing treatment.

Residents say the hospital campus is surrounded by a large green belt, which has become a regular habitat for monkeys. As a result, the animals frequently enter the hospital premises in search of food, posing a risk to patients, staff, and visitors.

The issue has also been highlighted by local representatives, who have demanded immediate intervention from the authorities. Complaints have reportedly been forwarded to the civic body’s veterinary department, seeking measures to prevent monkeys from entering the hospital campus.

Municipal officials have acknowledged the concerns and indicated that public safety remains a priority. Authorities are expected to assess the situation and take necessary steps to reduce the risk of further incidents.

Healthcare experts advise people to avoid feeding monkeys, maintain a safe distance, and seek immediate medical attention in case of any animal bite, as timely treatment is essential to prevent infections such as rabies.
