In a move aimed at preserving the academic and professional environment of the institute, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has directed the removal of all unauthorized advertisements, posters and pamphlets related to coaching centres, entrance examination preparation and private educational activities from its campus notice boards and premises. The directive has been issued through an official circular released by the institute in June.
According to the circular, AIIMS authorities observed that promotional material for coaching classes, entrance examination preparation programmes and other private educational ventures was being displayed at various locations within the campus without prior approval from the competent authority. The institute noted that such advertisements were appearing on notice boards and public spaces intended for official communication and academic purposes.
The administration has instructed all departments, students, staff members and campus stakeholders to ensure that no unauthorized notices, posters or advertisements are pasted or displayed anywhere within the institute premises. The order seeks to maintain the sanctity of institutional notice boards and prevent their misuse for commercial promotion.
Officials believe the step will help create a clutter-free environment and ensure that important academic and administrative announcements remain clearly visible to students, faculty members and healthcare professionals. The institute has also emphasized that any display of promotional material in the future will require prior approval from the designated authority.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over the increasing presence of commercial coaching advertisements in educational institutions, particularly those targeting medical students and aspirants preparing for competitive examinations. By enforcing stricter regulations, AIIMS aims to uphold its professional standards and maintain an atmosphere focused on education, research and patient care.
