A press conference held at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, today announced the upcoming AIIMS Aesthetic Surgery Update 2026, a major three-day academic event scheduled from April 24 to 26.
Organized by the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Burns Surgery, the conference will bring together over 280 plastic surgeons from across India and neighbouring countries, making it one of the largest gatherings in the field. The event will focus on the latest advancements in aesthetic surgery, an area witnessing rapid growth both globally and in India.
India currently ranks 6th worldwide in aesthetic surgery, reflecting a sharp rise in demand for procedures such as hair transplantation, liposuction, facelifts, rhinoplasty, laser treatments, botulinum toxin, and dermal fillers. Experts highlighted that this surge underscores the need for strict adherence to safety, ethics, and professional training.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Maneesh Singhal, Head of the Department, noted that aesthetic procedures in India have seen consistent growth, with approximately 1.2 million procedures conducted in 2024, and projections indicating a rise to 1.5 million in 2025.
Dr. Shivangi Saha emphasized that the demand spans all sections of society, cutting across age groups. “Aesthetic interventions today are not just about appearance—they significantly influence confidence, mental well-being, and social opportunities,” she said.
The institute also reiterated its commitment to responsible growth in the field. Prof. Singhal stressed that as a premier national medical institution, AIIMS is actively promoting structured training and ethical practices in aesthetic surgery. Similar initiatives are being undertaken by leading institutions such as AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and PGI Chandigarh.
Among the faculty members present at the press briefing were Dr. Raja Tiwari, Dr. Raj Kumar Manas, Dr. Aparna Sinha, Dr. Rupavath Ram Kumar, and Dr. Surabhi Gupta.
With participation from top experts and a focus on innovation, safety, and ethics, AIIMS Aesthetic Surgery Update 2026 is set to become a key platform shaping the future of aesthetic surgery in India.
