The national capital celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day with remarkable enthusiasm and public participation as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Cabinet Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, and Cabinet Ministers Kapil Mishra, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh and Parvesh Sahib Singh led yoga sessions at various locations across Delhi.

Under the Delhi Government’s theme of “One Delhi, One Yoga,” yoga programmes were organized across all 70 Assembly constituencies, drawing participation from thousands of citizens, students, women, youth, senior citizens, social organizations and public representatives.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by Cabinet Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, participated in a special yoga programme near Neeli Jheel at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. Amid the scenic surroundings of one of Delhi’s richest biodiversity zones, the Chief Minister emphasized the deep connection between yoga, nature and healthy living.
“Yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a complete way of life that brings balance between the body, mind and soul. Regular practice of yoga helps individuals remain healthy, positive and mentally strong throughout their lives,” she said. Highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, the Chief Minister said, “A strong connection with both yoga and nature forms the foundation of a healthy, balanced and prosperous life. Every citizen should participate in environmental protection and take inspiration from the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.”
Cabinet Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who joined the programme at Asola Bhatti, said that yoga has become a powerful medium for promoting physical fitness, mental wellness and social harmony. He urged citizens to make yoga a daily practice and contribute towards building a healthier Delhi.
Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Shri Vijender Gupta led a large gathering at District Park, Sector-14, Rohini, where hundreds of yoga enthusiasts participated in various asanas and breathing exercises.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “Yoga is India’s timeless gift to humanity. It strengthens the body, calms the mind and inspires a balanced way of life that is essential for individual well-being and national progress.”
The Speaker credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving yoga global recognition and added, “The widespread adoption of yoga will help build a healthier, happier and more productive society while advancing the vision of a developed, resilient and self-reliant India.”
Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra performed yoga with thousands of people along the sacred banks of the Yamuna River, from Sonia Vihar to Wazirabad and various embankments.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has become a global movement driven by public participation. Today, from the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea, India is immersed in the spirit of yoga and patriotism,” he said.

He further stated, “Yoga not only keeps the body healthy but is also a source of mental peace, self-confidence and positive energy. International Yoga Day is not merely an event but an opportunity for nation-building, self-discipline and positive resolve.”
Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh led a mass yoga session at Chhath Ghat, Kunwar Singh Nagar, Vikaspuri, where citizens across age groups participated enthusiastically.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Singh said, “Yoga is one of India’s greatest gifts to humanity. It offers a simple yet effective path towards physical fitness, mental peace and spiritual well-being.”
He added, “Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is a complete way of life that promotes harmony between the body, mind and soul. The Delhi Government is committed to promoting yoga as an integral component of preventive healthcare and mental wellness.”
Cabinet Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh participated in yoga programmes at four locations across New Delhi, including Connaught Place, Gol Market, Shahjahan Road and Red Fort Ground.

Addressing participants, he said, “Yoga is not merely a means of physical fitness; it is a pathway to inner peace, self-discipline and spiritual growth. In today’s fast-paced world, yoga helps us reconnect with ourselves and maintain balance in our lives.”
He further remarked, “By embracing yoga as a daily habit, we can build a healthier, stronger and more positive society while contributing to the vision of a developed and self-reliant India.”
The celebrations concluded with participants taking a collective pledge to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives and spread awareness about its benefits among their families and communities.
The overwhelming participation across Delhi reflected the growing acceptance of yoga as a way of life and reinforced the message that a healthy society is the foundation of a strong and developed nation.
