Dr. L. Shyam Singh has taken charge as the officiating Director of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, marking a significant leadership transition at one of the capital’s key public healthcare institutions.
A senior Consultant (HAG, NFU) and Head of the Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Dr. Singh brings decades of experience in clinical care, teaching, and hospital administration. His appointment is expected to strengthen both patient services and academic excellence at the institute.
Having previously led the Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics at ABVIMS, Dr. Singh is widely regarded for his contributions to women’s health and medical education. His elevation to the top post comes at a time when public hospitals are under increasing pressure to expand access, improve quality of care, and integrate research with clinical practice.
