In a major push towards digital healthcare delivery, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday launched Ayushman Sarathi, an official WhatsApp chatbot designed to provide round-the-clock access to services under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Developed by the National Health Authority (NHA), the chatbot aims to make healthcare services more accessible by allowing beneficiaries to access key PM-JAY features directly through WhatsApp.

The initiative is intended to reduce the need for citizens to visit government offices or contact call centres for routine healthcare-related services. Powered by secure API-based integration with PM-JAY systems, the chatbot delivers real-time information and enables beneficiaries to complete several health scheme-related tasks using their smartphones.

Wide Range of Services on WhatsApp
Ayushman Sarathi offers a comprehensive range of digital services, including checking eligibility under PM-JAY, applying for and downloading an Ayushman Card, completing eKYC, linking Aadhaar, locking or unlocking PM-JAY cards, viewing treatment history and checking wallet balances.

The chatbot also supports applications for the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card for senior citizens aged 70 years and above. Users can search for nearby empanelled hospitals, register or track grievances, withdraw complaints, request a callback from support teams and submit feedback after hospital discharge.

How to Access Ayushman Sarathi?

Beneficiaries can access the official PM-JAY WhatsApp Chatbot – Ayushman Sarathi by scanning the QR code below or by sending “Hi” on WhatsApp to +91 72908 23838. The chatbot is available 24×7 and provides secure, API-based access to PM-JAY services.

Making Healthcare More Accessible
According to the Health Ministry, the chatbot has been developed to improve accessibility, transparency and citizen engagement by providing instant, 24×7 digital access to PM-JAY services. The platform is expected to simplify beneficiary interactions with the National Health Authority while reducing paperwork and improving response times.
The chatbot also strengthens service monitoring by enabling digital feedback collection and streamlined grievance management, helping authorities improve healthcare delivery based on beneficiary experiences.

Supporting Digital Governance
Officials said Ayushman Sarathi represents another step in the government’s efforts to expand digital governance in healthcare. By integrating multiple services into a familiar messaging platform, the initiative aims to increase the reach of Ayushman Bharat while making healthcare benefits easier to access for millions of eligible citizens across the country.
Beneficiaries can use the service at any time by sending “Hi” on WhatsApp to the official PM-JAY chatbot number or by scanning the QR code released by the National Health Authority. The chatbot operates round the clock and provides secure, real-time access to eligible healthcare services.
